Signature upload checklist

Keep every stroke legible.

A signature upload needs both a readable mark and the file specifications required by the form. This tool starts with a 10,000-byte target and JPG output on white. You can change the target and enter optional width or height limits. It processes an existing image locally; it does not draw, trace, authenticate or crop a signature for you.

  1. Prepare the sourceUse your own signature on clean white paper with even light. Crop close enough to remove empty margins, but keep all pen strokes and a little breathing room.
  2. Copy the form’s rulesCheck its byte range, pixel dimensions and accepted format. Enter a width, a height or both. Keep proportions enabled to avoid stretching the handwriting.
  3. Read the result detailsInspect fine strokes and compare the actual dimensions and bytes with the instructions. A successful conversion does not establish that a particular application will accept the signature.

Width, height and the size limit can conflict

With proportions enabled, width and height are a bounding box: the original shape fits inside them, so one resulting dimension can be smaller than the value you entered. Turning proportions off with both fields filled reshapes the image to those dimensions and can distort the signature. Use that only when you understand the destination’s requirements.

Automatic shrinking is enabled initially, so the output may become smaller in pixels if encoding changes alone cannot reach the byte cap. Disable it when you need to keep the selected dimensions. If the file cannot fit with that setting, the tool reports the conflict instead of silently giving you an oversized download. It never adds padding to meet a minimum byte size.

JPG converts transparency to a white background. This tool does not remove paper shadows or repair a faint pen stroke, so improve the original lighting or scan before reducing the file. Keep the original image, inspect the saved JPG at normal size and follow the form you are currently filling in. Requirements can differ between signature and photograph fields.

Questions

Good to know.

How do I resize a signature to 10KB or 20KB?

Upload a cropped signature image, choose the requested KB cap and inspect the result. The default is under 10,000 bytes; choosing 20KB changes the cap to 20,000 bytes. Check any minimum size as well.

How can I keep exact signature dimensions?

Enter both width and height, turn off Keep proportions and disable Allow smaller dimensions. This can reshape the handwriting. If quality changes cannot fit the byte limit, the tool shows an error. Always compare the actual result with your form.

Why does my transparent signature have a white background?

The default JPG format cannot store transparency, so transparent pixels are painted white. If your form accepts WebP and needs transparency, you can select it instead.

Does this guarantee acceptance for an exam or government form?

No. It checks the exported byte count and reports dimensions. Only the current form’s instructions determine the required file range, dimensions, composition and permitted formats.
